Here are some samples of corsets made with the Laughing Moon
corset patttern:
The Laughing Moon Victorian Corset pattern includes two styles
of corset; the Dore and the Silverado. In the photo on the left
the Dore is shown in black and the Silverado in peach. The photo
on the right shows the Silverado in white with a spoon busk used
in the centre front opening.
The Silverado includes bust gores, more shaping along the top
edge and is longer in design. The Dore is simpler to build as
it does not have the bust gores.
The Pattern is drafted to make sewing very straightforward, all
pieces fit perfectly and the instructions are easy to understand
and to follow. I suggest tracing off the size you need and keeping
the original pattern intact for when you need a different size.
The pattern includes sizes 6-26; fitting bust 30 ½" – 48",
waist 23"-40" and hip 32 ½"-50".
Shown are size 6 (left) which gave even my smallest Judy a good
squeeze, size 14 (center)and size 26 (right)
Your corset can be decorated in any way, your imagination is
the only limit. Ours are particularly conservative in basic black
brocade (90-1145-90) with lacing tape finishing the center back
(91-7100-90) and in peach satin (90-1150-20) with silk and lace
trim and grommets set as suggested in the pattern instructions.
I find the spiral bones tend to be slightly visible in lighter
coloured fabrics(as seen in photo) so I am inclined to use one
of the other types of bones or to use bone casings (70-7212-01)
